Service-Learning Proposal Description

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer By joining our team as our Photography Intern you would be meeting a need of coordinating and organizing photography projects, photo edits, and creating a stock file for print and digital marketing. Create a community partnership with the newly forming nonprofit MS-Take Charge, Inc. This community collaboration will become a reference for you in the future.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer MS-Take Charge is a nonprofit organization focusing on providing movement therapy and wellness for those with Multiple Sclerosis. Educate and empower strength and independence through community collaboration to “Take Charge” of MS by learning to move MS energy effectively to create Vitality of Body, Mind, and Spirit in the Chippewa Valley area.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Someone with an interest in collaborating with me as I form a health and wellness community engagement nonprofit organization for individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis. Time management - juggling multiple tasks Utilize one’s skills to enhance their service-learning experience Excellent photography, editing, organizational abilities Proficiency in using camera and editing Ability to work independently and collaboratively Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines Utilize one’s skills to enhance their service-learning experience

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Play a vital role in supporting our organization's development operations by providing photos for print and digital marketing support. This is an excellent learning opportunity for you as well as a chance to be interning with a grassroots nonprofit while building your resume.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Photo Opportunities are on Tuesday’s 1:00 - 2:30pm, Wednesday’s 10-11am & 4-6pm, & 3rd Thursday’s of each month 4:30pm-6pm. Otherwise time commitment is Flexible - we will work with the student’s schedule.

Answer Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disorder usually manifesting itself in early 20’s. Almost one million people in the United States have MS, making it one of the most common causes of neurological disability among young adults (20’s-40’s) in North America. The prevalence of MS in Wisconsin is medium to high and there is an estimated 20,000 people in Wisconsin impacted by Multiple Sclerosis.
