Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Volunteer to help prepare materials and supplies for the event. Help out during the event with various activities, decorating, setting up, tearing down, and general help at the event. After the event, volunteers will help clean up the materials the Monday after the event.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association's mission to empower people, advance cultures, and enhance the quality of life for Chippewa Valley communities by promoting relationships of trust, safety, and a sense of belonging. The goal of Hmong Youth Day is to bring together organizations, agencies, and businesses in the Chippewa Valley area to provide entertainment and resources to the public with a special emphasis on celebrating Hmong youth to build relationships, strengthen bonds, and cultivate community.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Volunteers should be able to work well with new folks and work well with youth (primary age up to high school age).

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Students will learn how to: Plan an event Organize an event Interact with youth Work with a team

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Friday - May 3rd, 2024 12 pm - 5 pm (preparing materials) Thursday - May 9th, 2024 8 am - 5 pm (preparing materials) Friday - May 10th, 2024 12 pm - 5 pm (preparing materials) Saturday - May 11th, 2024 12 pm - 7 pm (HMONG YOUTH DAY EVENT) Monday - May 13th, 2024 8 am - 5 pm (cleaning up materials)
