Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Ronald McDonald House relies on on-site volunteers to assist with our mission of serving families with sick kids. The work will include meal prep, facility maintenance (outdoor and indoor) and more.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Provide families with critically ill and injured hospitalized children lodging, meals, family programs and services

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Detail oriented, precise, friendly demeanor, ability to lift 20lbs, can stand for periods of time, self starter

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer To see the operations of a hands-on, service oriented non-profit and participate in completing service to families; to assist in preparation and service of 3,000 weekly meals, assist with cleaning facility and grounds.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Two days in July 2024

Additional information (not required).

Answer We request that students arrive on our campus without signs or symptoms of illness due to the immunocompromised patients who live in the facility. Students should also feel comfortable around children who are visibly going through medical treatments. All students will need to provide a photo ID for a background check upon entering the facility.
