Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The Loganville Area Fire Department has been providing emergency services since 1924. 100 years would not have been possible without the community support of our fundraisers. Equipment needs are always present. The annual festival is our departments largest event and helping hands working with our members is vital to the success of the event.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer With pride and dedication, the Loganville Area Fire Department is committed to providing quality service to our community. As fire service volunteers, we will safeguard life, property and the environment to the best of our abilities.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Ability to work with others to accomplish a task. Good communication skills.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The objective is to have a successful fundraiser. The student can help achieve this goal by working as a team member.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer The event is a one-day Saturday event that begins early in the morning and continues into the late evening. Friday and Sunday involve hours of set-up and clean-up responsibilities. A pre-event Wednesday evening station/apparatus clean-up is also held.
