Service-Learning Proposal Description

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer By joining our team as our Administrative Assistant you would be meeting a need of coordinating and executing organizational operations, grant researching, writing edits, and submitting. Create a partnership with MS-Take Charge, Inc so we can become a reference for you in the future. We are seeking to organize the MS Walk in Eau Claire, aiming to raise awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis research and support. Our goal is to engage students and the community in this meaningful event, which will include a safe walking route, registration, fundraising activities, and refreshments. We are looking for support in logistics, marketing, volunteer recruitment, and overall event coordination to ensure a successful and impactful experience for all participants

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Our mission is to empower individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) to thrive by providing accessible, no-cost therapeutic movement and exercise services that enhance their mental health and overall well-being while encouraging independence.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Someone with an interest in collaborating with us to form a health and nonprofit wellness community engagement organization for individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis. 1. Time management - juggling multiple tasks 2. Utilize one’s studies and skills to enhance their service-learning experience 3. Strong research skills to identify relevant grant opportunities and gather supporting data. 4. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities 5. Proficiency in using word processing, spreadsheet, and Adobe 6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Play a vital role in supporting our organization's daily operations by providing administrative support. This is an excellent learning opportunity for you as well as a chance to be interning with a nonprofit while building your resume.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Availability anytime between 9am and 6pm on Wednesdays but can meet Thursdays and Fridays by appointment between 11am and 2pm.

Answer Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disorder usually manifesting itself in early 20’s. Almost one million people in the United States have MS, making it one of the most common causes of neurological disability among young adults (20’s-40’s) in North America. The prevalence of MS in Wisconsin is medium to high and there is an estimated 20,000 people in Wisconsin impacted by Multiple Sclerosis.
