Service-Learning Proposal Description

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The project aims to conduct comprehensive market research to identify and analyze potential markets for nonprofit MS-Take Charge who aims to provide low cost therapeutic movement classes and support services for individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis. This research will focus on Eau Claire and the surrounding regions to determine the most effective strategies for targeting and engaging with the local population.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Our mission is to empower individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) to thrive by providing accessible, no-cost therapeutic movement and exercise services that enhance their mental health and overall well-being while encouraging independence.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Familiarity with online survey platforms such as Google Forms and Data Analysis Software such as Excel. Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in data collection, analysis, and reporting. Creativity: Developing innovative marketing strategies based on research findings. Time Management: Efficiently managing time to balance various tasks and deadlines.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Determine the specific demographic groups within Eau Claire and the surrounding areas that are most likely to benefit from and be interested in MS-Take Charge. Explore potential partnerships with local organizations, healthcare providers, and community groups to enhance the reach and impact of MS-Take Charge.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Would like to meet in person for the initial meeting. Option to work remotely with weekly check-ins.

Answer Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disorder usually manifesting itself in early 20’s. Almost one million people in the United States have MS, making it one of the most common causes of neurological disability among young adults (20’s-40’s) in North America. The prevalence of MS in Wisconsin is medium to high and there is an estimated 20,000 people in Wisconsin impacted by Multiple Sclerosis. With an estimated 350 individuals living with MS in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
