Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The UWEC-BC Learning Center provides tutoring and academic support to the students enrolled in UWEC-BC courses. Students who participate in this project will work directly with our students, most likely our first year students who want help with their math or writing courses.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The UWEC-BC Learning Center carries out the university's mission of inclusion and accessibility, by removing barriers to students' academic success.

3.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer Students should have a strong foundation in skill they wish to provide tutoring for (such as math, writing, chemistry, speech, etc.) Students should be organized, responsible, and patient.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The objective is to help our UWEC-BC students feel empowered and capable of being successful in the math and writing courses.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Students need to be available during the school day. They may create their own schedule, but their shifts will need to take place sometime from 8am-4pm M-F.

6.

Additional information (not required).

Answer I have listed this project as 30 hours, but if you can't complete that many, we can figure something out.
