Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Many older adults living in the La Crescent MN area are lonely and isolated. They don't have family or friends to help them with basic home tasks or to visit them. Our volunteers commit to provide companionship and perform household chores such as lawn mowing, snow shoveling, or light housekeeping.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of Neighbors In Action is to connect older people to resources that improve their quality of life, help them age safely, and enable them to engage in their community.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer kindness, compassion, and the ability to interact with older adults.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Learn about the challenges of aging while providing a necessary and important to a member of the elderly community in need.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer This is a very flexible volunteer experience. Hours can be completed as the students availability allows.
