Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Work in the food pantry checking students in and out, explaining to students how the pantry works. This position directly interacts with our students who self identify as food insecure, so they come to the pantry every week. The community need to be addressed is to alleviate food insecurity among our college students.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer To alleviate food insecurity among our college students. We don't want our students wondering where their next meal is coming from.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Must be friendly and engaging, able to be confidential, enjoy working with people.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Student will develop a better understanding of the number of college students who are food insecure and what it takes to provide resources to these students.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Tuesdays 2:00-5:00; Wednesdays 2:00-5:00; Thursdays 2:00-5:00. Must be able to work at least one of these shifts for the entire semester.
