Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The Eau Claire Marathon is looking for a 2 potential student journalists to interview runners, write stories leading up to the race and race weekend and press releases. The community need to be addressed is to obtain these stories about local community members to enhance the Eau Claire Marathon culture and community atmosphere.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The Eau Claire Marathon's mission is to encourage a journey for participants to live a healthier lifestyle that endorses the fact that dedication and discipline yield results, that demonstrates that you don't have to win the race to have a personal victory, and a journey that should remind everyone of the power of encouragement.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Experience writer preferred.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The student journalists will have the opportunity to be creative, utilize time managements skills, and grow as a writing professional. This position will be very much self driven.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Now through race weekend (May 5-6) as schedule and availability allows.

Answer Direction will be given by the directors of the marathon and possible coordination with the Blugold Mile will be required.
