Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer MACKademia is summer school for students grade K-8. Focus is on helping students close learning gaps in reading, writing and math. The majority of the students have struggled in these areas and the aim of MACKademia is help close some of those learning gaps.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer McDonell Area Catholic Schools are committed to the formation of community, academic excellence and the spiritual and physical well-being of each student in the spirit of Jesus Christ.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Volunteers should feel comfortable working with children and be willing to learn how to help them be successful in reading, writing, and math.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer 1. Service learners will make a difference in a young person's life 2. Service learners will be given skills to help them help students gain skills in reading, writing, and math.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Camp is from 8-12:30 pm, M-Th at McDonell Central Catholic High School in Chippewa Falls, WI. We ask that volunteers are there at least one day a week (consistency). But there is opportunity for four days a week. We can work with the time arrangements with the goal of consistency.
