Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The student will provide administrative and logistical support as a director's assistant in a community Gospel and Hip Hop Choir. The CollECtive Choir uses exuberant music to proclaim the praise of Jesus Christ in the public arena. The Choir builds bridges of reconciliation between multiple rifts in our city: economic, social, racial, familial, generational and denominational.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Mission: "CollECtively proclaim Jesus through exuberant praise" Vision: "We are a diverse Gospel and hip hop choir displaying oneness in Christ. We invite all people to experience the life-changing love of Jesus.”


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Reading music and proofreading (is a plus), communication and public relations, punctuality, transportation required, basic knowledge of audio equipment, ingenuity, attentiveness, sociable with all different people.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Students will learn multiple aspects of running a community art organization, and experience the impact of faith-based community music that touches multiple demographics.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Hours are flexible. Some Monday nights required between 5 and 8pm. Some weekend hours required per event.
