Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Children's Charities is 100% community funded. We do not charge families or community members for our services. The majority of our funding comes from fundraisers and we need help to plan and execute these events. Students will be assisting with the planning and execution of an event to include: -Working with venue and organization staff -Creating a promotional plan to include marketing/social media -Creating a volunteer communication plan to include details about tasks and responsibilities -Soliciting donations -Creating and maintaining strong volunteer partnerships -Checking in a directing volunteers -Overseeing volunteers at the event

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of Children's Charities is to raise awareness and educate the community about dyslexia and reading instruction, provide services and support for families with children who struggle with reading throughout Northwest Wisconsin, and provide training and support for language practitioners and educators.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Organization, communication, and ability to volunteer at the events on June 22-25 and/or July 13-16.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer To show a behind the scenes look into how a fundraiser is planned and executed. To gain experience in coordinating and overseeing volunteers. To expanded awareness that accompanies volunteering. To experience the sense of accomplishment in the fulfillment of goals through your efforts.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Students have the ability to sign up for specific tasks that best fit their skills and time commitments. The tasks will center on the Country and Rock festival weekend events in June and July.
