Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer MDA Summer Camp gives kids with neuromuscular conditions ages 8-17 the freedom to be kids with others who are just like them during a life-changing week of fun and friendship — all at no cost to their families.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is the #1 voluntary health organization in the United States for people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. For over 70 years, MDA has led the way in accelerating research, advancing care, and advocating for the support of our families. MDA’s mission is to empower the people we serve to live longer, more independent lives.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Individuals interested in this opportunity need to be caring & patient, as well as be able to lift and care for a camper and assist with their needs.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Volunteers are by campers’ sides day and night so that they can do all the fun activities that summer camp offers. In addition to bringing joy to campers, this fantastic opportunity allows your students to gain hands-on experience in education, recreation, family social sciences and medical professions.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Must be available for the entire week of camp - June 11th-17th, 2022
